Bottom of the 9th, 2 outs, game is tied 1-1 with the Phillies and Mets in the city of Brotherly Love, and the crowd starts to chant U-S-A. Must have been bewildering to the players on the field, while the fans in the stands starting getting word on their smart phones that Osama had been assassinated. What a cool moment.

Perhaps it is just semantics, but make no mistake....
Osama was not assisinated. He was hunted down and killed like the dog that he is.!!!

Perhaps it is semantics, but according to Miriam-Webster the definition of assassinate is:
1: to injure or destroy unexpectedly and treacherously
2: to murder (a usually prominent person) by sudden or secret attack often for political reasons

As for "the dog that he is," well that's just plain good old allegory, or is it symbolism? We need Rob to mediate this.

Point being, it was a cool shared experience, at a game that was invented in America, that the fans rallied and cheered at the news of their country's number one enemy has fallen. Maybe not the "where were you when JFK was shot" but I'd wager the 43,000 there will always remember.

Regardlees of definition,
to say we assisinated him makes it sound like we were in the wrong. Misperception on my part, no doubt. I know that it was not your intention to mean we were in the wrong. That's just how it feels to me to say he was assisinated.
We were not Wrong!! This scumbag had it coming.

My apologies to man's best friend everywhere for referring to OBL as a dog in my original post. Poor choice of words on my part. It was an insult to dogs everywhere to refer to him as one.

True, assassination probably wasn't the right word.

"My apologies...it was an insult to dogs everywhere." Now that's funny.
